World Culture Forum: Bali Declaration says culture is basis of development

BINTANGNEWS.com – Participants of the World Culture Forum 2016 have agreed on Bali Declaration, which urged UNESCO member states to strengthen efforts in mainstreaming culture as the basis of the development process.
The declaration was announced Thursday during the closing of the four-day forum.
Countries are also urged to develop strategies that invest in people and empower the role of local communities as well as to formulate an action plan to optimize culture in addressing world problems.
Following up the Bali Declaration, countries will develop a Framework for Action to be presented at a meeting alongside the 39th Session of UNESCO General Conference in October next year.
The declaration stated the importance of the countries' commitment to strengthen the role of youth as the future leaders in economic, cultural, socio-political and environmental activism to promote social transformations and equality.
The World Culture Forum engaged 153 youth participants from 35 countries by organizing the International Youth Forum, during which the participants agreed on an action plan to promote active involvement of young people in addressing crucial issues, including education, political reform, culture and environment.***
