Odd-even traffic policy temporarily revoked on Semanggi-Kuningan road

BINTANGNEWS.com – The Jakarta Police and the city’s transportation agency on Monday temporarily revoked the odd-even license plate policy on the Semanggi-Kuningan road section to prevent further congestion on Jl. Gatot Subroto in South Jakarta.
Traffic congestion, which often occurs on the road section, has worsened due to the construction of the Pancoran overpass and Kuningan underpass.

“The temporary revocation is meant to support the contraflow system that we implement every morning on the toll road [that runs parallel to the Semanggi-Kuningan road],” said Adj. Sr. Comr. Budiyanto, the head of law enforcement at the Jakarta Police traffic unit, as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.
Budiyanto added that the contraflow system was not effective in preventing traffic congestion as vehicles would choose to take the Kuningan exit to avoid dealing with the odd-even license plate policy.
He said that both the police and the agency had yet to decide on the right time to end the revocation.
“We will evaluate the policy gradually,” Budiyanto said, adding the policy was still valid on other roads, such as Jl. Jend. Sudirman.***
